Workforce Australia – the Australian Government’s employment service
Acting quickly to find a new job is important. You may need to update your résumé to include all your skills and to highlight any transferable skills you have that would be of value to new employers. There is support available to do this and much more.
Workforce Australia is the Australian Government’s employment service. If you have lost your job, you and your partner can get free, tailored employment services by registering with a Workforce Australia Employment Services Provider.
A Provider can help you to find a new job in many ways, including:
- providing advice based on your situation and plans for the future
- providing case management so that you are ready to take up and keep a job
- helping you with writing or updating your résumé and preparing for interviews
- providing referrals to jobs in your local area
- helping you to get training that is suited to the skills that new employers need
- practical assistance to help with your job search, including access to the internet, printers and newspapers. They can also help you with using laptops, computers and smart phones.
You can find your local Workforce Australia provider online or by calling the National Customer Service Line on 1800 805 260.
Workforce Australia tools
The Workforce Australia website is a valuable resource for all jobseekers. It includes useful articles on how to find and keep a job, and will give you access to tools such as JobSearch and Job Switch.
JobSearch is a free online jobs portal where you can search and apply for jobs.
Job Switch allows you to identify jobs that it may be possible to pivot towards based on your existing skills and experience from previous employment. JobSwitch will help you use the skills you already have to find a new job.
Please note, if you want to access Workforce Australia online, including searching for jobs and getting help from a Provider, you will need to have a MyGov account and have it linked to Workforce Australia.
